以前、とある掲示板で、クラスで一番ゲームソフトを持っている子供が、実は生活保護家庭の子供だった、という話題を見たことがあります。 そこでは生活保護家庭の子供がゲームを持つのは贅沢だというバッシングが行われていました。 僕はその時偶然、問題の被保護者のSNSページを特定して、日記を読んだのですが、実態を知ってこれは全然問題ないと感じました。

その方は、非正規雇用で長時間働いていて、給料が安いために生活保護を受けていたそうです。 子供は家に一人でいる時間が長く、その子の寂しい気持ちを減らすために、ゲームソフトを買い与えていました。 その費用は自分の昼飯を抜いて、捻出していました。 子どもの学校でマジコンが流行っており、使えばお金を払わなくてもゲームが出来ることは知っているが、子供にはそういう事を覚えてほしくないのでお金を払ってゲームソフトを購入している、という趣旨の発言もあってなるほどなと思いました。 要はこの事件、そのクラスの「普通の家庭」の親がゲームソフトを買わず、マジコンを使っていたため、結果的に生活保護世帯の子供が一番ゲームを持っていたという話だったんです。
